Jeannette Adamson of Honest hanged herself with a rope from a door while her father James found her in the kitchen Monday morning. She had suffered a nervous breakdown after her mother’s death on September 5 and had hinted at suicide, with neighbors noting her distress.
Republicans rally in West Mahoning township with speeches by Calhoun Peeler and Henry at Smicksburg Trade City and Plumville. A series of rallies is scheduled next week in Armagh Penn Run Brushvalley Stafford Marion Center and Rossiter to boost the Republican ticket ahead of November.
Laura Shaffer aged 12 living with Benton Dill in Buffington township sustained a compound fracture of the right leg above the knee after being caught in a moving wagon wheel on Monday afternoon. Dr William Johns of Brushvalley at Indiana hospital reduced the fracture after transporting the girl there for treatment. Witnesses include several schoolmates as she was returning home from school.

A midnight blaze at the large woolen and chopping mill owned by W. H. Green in Penn Run destroyed the mill and contents, with estimated losses of 9000 dollars and insurance of 4000. Firefighters saved the surrounding structures, including a stable, a barn, a church, and a dwelling, which were damaged at various times but ultimately saved.

A White Township run of anniversaries includes Mr. and Mrs. John R Bash of Lovejoy completing fifty years of marriage with their six children and numerous relatives. The Bash family, lifelong Green Township residents, celebrated at the Bash homestead near Cookport. John R Bash born April 16 1837 married Elizabeth Menryy October 26 1860. They have six children and 34 grandchildren. Other celebrations include C Fairman and Carrie Fairman Coltebaugh thirtieth wedding anniversary with ninety nine guests, and Rev M Allen Stickley and his wife marking their tenth anniversary at Pine Flats with more than 200 guests. A surprise party honored Mr Shank on his 67th anniversary with 45 attendees and a later birthday gathering for Mr Simon Mock with family. Continues on Fourth Page.
