Memorial Day notes from Homer City church Jubilee ends debt
Homer City Methodist Episcopal church closed its anniversary with a Jubilee as notes against the church were burned and the debt wiped out. Under Rev. C A Hartung the membership doubled. Donations included 386 from Misses Elizabeth and Adeline Sheppard for a new carpet for church schools. A parade led by Clymer and Idamar bands starts at 9 AM, with Attorney John A Scott delivering the address. Two baseball games and other events are planned for the day.

Miner Suffers Severe Injuries In Delayed Dynamite Blast
Louis Mefondantinn of Lucerne had both eyes blown out when a delayed dynamite shot exploded at the mines Monday morning. He was taken to Indiana hospital in serious condition after returning to inspect the charge too soon. The blast occurred while he bent over the fuse after lighting it, a common miner's risk.

Public Schools to Hold Commencement Week Activities

Man Lived Twelve Years with a Broken Back
A Green Township resident Wilkin Barkey aged about 85 died at his parents home in Homer City after living 12 years with a broken back from a slate fall in a coal mine. He was cared for at home for years, later moved to the County Home, and returned to the family residence shortly before death. Survived by his father and siblings, funeral services were held at his late home and interment at Greenwood cemetery. George Keith, aged near 84, long resident of Green township, died after a heart attack. He married Isabel Plouse, had four sons and two daughters, and was a Republican farmer. Funeral services were held with burial at the local cemetery. Merle Mogie, 58, a machinist and veteran, died in Lidlasa hospital from kidney trouble. Survived by one sister. Funeral services were held and interment at Greenwood cemetery. Mrs. Jessie M. Nippes died at home after a brief illness, survived by husband Joseph Nippes and two children. Funeral services were held and burial at Bhursville and later at Vandergrift. Funeral notices and local obituaries throughout the county noted multiple services and interments. Indiana Camp United Spanish War Veterans will hold a smoker on Friday for all county Spanish War veterans.
