Civil cases heard and licenses discussed by court
The court heard four civil cases last week with verdicts in several matters including J A Blacklick Land Improvement and Mary Lydick versus Center borough. Mrs. Emeline McKnight of town died suddenly in Pasadena California on Sabbath while wintering with daughter Mary. Aged about 62, widow of James McKnight, she had been ill with grip leading to pneumonia. Remains travel east and funeral set for Saturday at 1 pm at west Church Street home with Rev Swartz Crawford, Greenwood Cemetery burial.

Mrs Margaret Auld widow of Thomas Auld of Brushvalley township died at her home near Heshbon on March 18 after a long illness aged 75. Survived by children Mrs Frank Hildebrand John Robert Rose and Emily all at home two brothers Rev J F Martin James Martin and Mrs Sarah Atchison and a sister. She was a member of Heshbon United Presbyterian church. Funeral held at her late home Thursday forenoon with interment in Bethel church cemetery near Clyde.

Authentic weekly reports say construction on the Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburg railroad into this county will start in April with three civil engineering corps marking grading stakes north of Rochester Mille between Rochester and Hamill and Hamill to Creekside. Right of way secured through the McClanahan tract East Mahoning. timber to be cut soon. Pennsylvania Company to extend its branch from Cherrytree to Burnside this spring, linking with Mahaffey lines. Rumor says New York Central will extend from Burnside to Barnesboro via Cherrytree to access coal interests.

Tragic Powder Works Blast Kills Three Near Punzentawney
A powder works blast near Punzentawney at two pm Tuesday killed three men and injured many more. Victims named include John Wise of Punzentawney, Ord Bowderstock, and Clark Simpson of East Mahoning township. Wise left a wife and two children. Remains of Bowderstock and Wise were blown to pieces, with fragments found on nearby trees. Simpson, from Georgeville, was 26 and new to the plant. his remains will be interred there today. friends refused viewing. Estimated injuries reach at least six others.
