Grand jury to hear many charges at June term opens

June term of civil and criminal court opened Monday afternoon with a busy outlook. The grand jury, led by foreman George W. Clawson, weighed about fifty Commonwealth indictments including rape, burglary, larceny, seduction, and other crimes. Civil court followed with minor appeal cases and small-money disputes. Desertion and non support cases against Norris Lyster, J Irvin Long, and Algero R. Weaver set for Saturday at the courthouse.

Epworth League Convene Blains District in Indiana

The Epworth League convention for Blairsville district of the M E church will meet in Indiana at the local church for three days. Sessions run Wednesday evening through Friday evening with banquets, lectures, devotional services, department institutes, song services, addresses by ministers and leaders, and a financial report culminating in an officers election on Friday evening.

Unnaturalized Foreigners Cannot Own Dogs in Pennsylvania

A Pennsylvania law prohibits unnaturalized foreign residents from owning dogs and bans hunting with dogs by such residents. Penalties include a $27 fine or imprisonment, with authorities empowered to arrest foreigners with dogs. Celebrated 95th Birthday of Mrs Thomas Patterson

Mrs Thomas Patterson of near Grisemore celebrated her ninety fifth birthday on Wednesday with all her living children present. A daughter of pioneer settler John Duntkle, she has lived near Spruce since age nine and is a member of the North Salon Methodist Episcopal church. Regimental veteran dies beside railroad track in Homer City

Martin H. Lorah, 72, a member of Co B Fifty fifth Regiment under Col Dick White, was killed by a southbound noon train at the Twallek curve on the Pennsylvania railroad. He had come to Homer City four years ago and led an eccentric life. Four Prisoners Escape County Jail By Workroom Noise

Four inmates fled a county jail after using a stringed instrument to cover noise of sawing bars.
