Five new railroads to enter Pittsburg under $55 million plan
Pittsburg investors back a bold scheme to weave five Eastbound railways into a single Pittsburgh network. The plan calls for the Pittsburg Northeastern and four other lines to reach Pittsburg, linking Buffalo and the seaboard with Indiana county industries. Estimated cost around 65 million for construction and 260 thousand dollars per mile, with major tunnels and a four track main line.
Development of Coal Rail Route and Plants in Sagamore
Plans erupt for a massive Sagamore coal plant near Perryville to cost about 4 million dollars as part of a new Pittsburg to Buffalo railroad line. The Buffalo Rochester Pittsburg route will extend toward Punxsutawney then Indiana and Iselin, with a single-track Indiana branch potentially upgraded. The project envisions many coal-field branch lines, abandoning parts of the Butler main line, and leveraging existing tunnels and bridges for future expansion.
