Barn Floor Dance and Local Celebrations Across Montgomery

A barn dance near Nose Cottage East of Town drew about fifty Indiana youths and guests of Miss Beatrice Billington of Pittsburgh and Miss Mariel Coho of Lancaster, with hay decor and two musicians on a chest at center. Rose Cottage near town hosted Mrs. E. M. Lydick’s 57th birthday dinner as ten siblings gathered, and Cooper school reunion plans in Montgomery promise a basket picnic and relics. Buckwheat Club plans, wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Robert Conner of Glen Campbell, and a Buckwheat festival at Goodville mark the community events.

Miners Return to Work After Western PA Strike Settled

A miners strike affecting 10 000 workers in western Pennsylvania mines owned by the Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburg interests ended with a July 10 Philadelphia conference. The settlement raises wages by 5 55 percent and keeps the check-off system for miners but not laborers, ending idle work since April and restoring operations.

Two Estates Divided Will Probates Filed Last Week

Wills filed for Wesley Coleman of West Mahoning township and James T Fleming of Mitchells Mills detail bequests. Coleman leaves an 88 acre farm to daughter Kilmer E Dinger with home for sister Sadie and care for two cows, other terms split with daughter Elmer E Dinger. grandchildren get 1000 each at 21. Conscience Pricks Man to Confess Bolivar Robberies

George Phillips surrendered to Greensburg police last week and confessed to helping loot the Hammond-Berkey Supply Co store at Bolivar. He also admitted robbing Missouri post offices. D W Simpson and J M Simpson of Indiana Lumber and Supply Co bought a twenty horsepower Pope Toledo automobile in Pittsburg last week. Jesse McKean delivered it to the area Friday.

Pension Increases For Four Old Soldiers Announced

Four veterans Samual Crawford Peter Spencer and John Bowser of Peak and Home and Rochester Mills receive monthly pension raises from ten to three twelve dollars. Valuable horse dies in digestion misfortune

Wilmer Stewart of Kent reports a valuable driving horse died from acute indigestion last week. The animal was part of the team he recently bought from St Seanor Company. County militia company F, N.G.P. plans to leave for Gettysburg camp tonight. advance details set for tomorrow.

Two Prominent Men Die In County Deaths Highlight Local News

A county widens its grief with the deaths of Winter and Crossman. Robert S. Mack of West Wheatfield near Clyde dies at age 61 from cancer after a long illness, with family survivors including Harry in Pitcairn and Mrs. William Dick near New Florence. Mack, a farmer and active Bethel United Presbyterian member, served in the Civil War and in local offices. Funeral services were held at Bethel church near Clyde, with Rev. Campbell presiding.

Death of John Gilmore Aged Jacksonville Resident

John Gilmore a well known Jacksonville citizen died at his home Friday morning after a ten day illness from bowel trouble. Born in Young township he lived there before moving to Jacksonville. He married Anna Cunningham of Young township in 140. she died last May. A lifelong member of the Jacksonville United Presbyterian Church he served since 1860 as an elder and clerk of the sessions. Surviving children include Mrs. William Canningham of Swissvale and Alexander and Elsie at home. Funeral services were conducted at his late home Monday forenoon by Rev. Ralston with assistance from Revs. McClure Anderson and Findley. Interment was in Oakland cemetery.

Death of David Benton Kinter in Indiana and New Mexico

David Benton Kinter, 29 years old, died after a lingering illness at his parents home in Garbleton. Former manager and part owner of the Indiana House, he had moved to New Mexico over a year ago for health reasons. He married Huma Wines and is survived by his parents and siblings. Funeral services were held at his home, with interment in Washington Church Cemetery in Rayne Township.

Asa Tilossaian Crossman Death in North Mahoning Township

Asa Tilossaian Crossman died at home in North Mahoning township on Thursday morning after a long illness. He served as a Civil War corporal in Co K, 10th PL VW, and was born October 1, 1828. He married Mary Robinson on September 4, 1851. survived by many children and grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday morning conducted by Rev. John Mrampton and Rev. Rexeover. Nathaniel Clark died at his daughter’s home in Blairsville at age 68. Interment followed at Freeport.
