This week work began on an addition to J M Stewart Co hardware store built entirely of building tile. The 52 by 32 foot extension will be a mansory annex matching the existing structure. After completion the rear wall will be removed creating two storerooms 92 feet long. Mabon Bennett Co wholesale grocer started a large 60 by 39 foot two story addition on Church street. The first floor will be cemented and a large elevator installed in the building.

Made Merry A Birthday Celebration Honors Green Township Veteran
On Saturday more than 200 gathered at J. W. Devinney's home in Green township to celebrate the 63d birthday of George Rodkey, the area’s oldest resident. Baskets were shared and noon meals were enjoyed in an orchard. A new organization formed with W. H. Munshower as president and G. T. Learn as secretary. Rev. Cartwright delivered a brief address and presented gifts. Matthias Conrath spoke as well. Rodkey, a pioneer resident, has five living children: J. H. Rodkey, J. N. Rodkey, Mrs. Charles Gallagher, J. W. Devinney, and Mrs. Newton Rodkey. He has resided with his daughter in recent years, and guests included Mr. and Mrs. Peter Learn, honored for their 58th wedding anniversary.

Bolivar to Dedicate New United Presbyterian Church
The handsome brick United Presbyterian church at Bolivar will be dedicated on Sabbath, July 27 at 11 a.m. Rev De Gilchrist of Pittsburg will preach the dedicatory. J E Jerema and Rev Doer will offer the dedicatory prayer. Rev J Hill of Latrobe will preside. The church, organized by Rev D S Tinker, has 50 members and aims to grow. The Gothic brick structure seats 250 in the main hall, 400 with the Sabbath school rooms open.

Wreck on West Penn rail line injures engineer in Indiana
A West Penn line wreck near Blairsville injures engineer Samuel B. Taylor, head wound and multiple fractures reported. Taylor, son in law of Mr and Mrs Joseph Neal, was aboard Owl passenger train en route to Allegheny City when a freight car was left on track at Willow Grove and struck by the train. Boy Dies as Lightning Strikes Under Maple Tree
In Cherryhill township seven year old David L. Kephart was instantly killed by a lightning bolt while playing with his sister beneath a maple tree at home. The sister received a severe shock but survived. Funeral held at Rich Hill Wesleyan church as family receives widespread sympathy.
