Fatal colt accident ends Hillsdale man life
Ford Rankin of Hillsdale died Friday night from internal injuries after a riding accident Wednesday evening near Hillsdale. The 32 year old merchant, married to Bertha Churchill, was survived by parents J. W. Rankin and Mrs. Tomb and brothers Dean and others. Funeral held Sunday at East Mahoning Baptist Church with interment inshore cemetery.

Stately 27 Foot Monument Erected at Greenwood Cemetery
Weston resident W N Caldwell brings a 27 foot dark Quincy granite monument to Greenwood Cemetery marking the graves of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Caldwell. Weighing about 60 tons, the cottage design rests eight feet six inches square at the base and rises to five feet six inches at the top with three feet three inches diameter. Six inscriptions and two Maltese crosses are carved. the piece cost about $6,000 and will be completed by week’s end near the cemetery entrance.

Sheriff seeks payment for four horses sold to city director
About sixteen months ago Sheriff Thompson sold four horses to Director Bigelow of Pittsburg, then director of public works. The horses were used in city work and the sheriff has not been paid $231.25 per horse. Attempts to collect have stalled as committees claim Bigelow lacked authority to purchase. On Monday the sheriff visited the city, meeting Controller Larkin, who guaranteed payment would come soon.

Fire destroys large barn at Dilltown farm
