Josephine Furnach to Be Blown In Saturday
After eight months idleness the Josephine blast furnace will be blown in next Saturday according to Superintendent Ghilespie. In the last ten days ore and coke shipments reached forty and ten cars daily as preparations continue. Extensive improvements including five new boiler batteries two blowing engines new steam piping and extra pumps and generators have been completed. The plant now has twelve engine batteries at five hundred HP each and five blowing engines, signaling a permanent, uninterrupted operation ahead.

Picnicers Hurt As Tree Falls At Grove Dance
A severe wind and electric storm yesterday afternoon struck a grove near Deckers Point causing a large tree to fall onto a dancing pavilion crowd. Mrs Hazlett, Mrs Frye, and Emma Hazlett were injured, others frightened and bruised as timbers showered the area. no one was killed, and a nearby barn was struck by lightning but did not burn.

Law Offenders Sentenced in Robbery Case at Clymer
On Monday Judge Telford sentenced Ben Eddy to one year in the workhouse and J E Crossman to a term of two to five years in the penitentiary for robbing a store at Clymer. That day patrons of the Clarksburg and West Lebanon school districts petitioned for reinstatement of the two independent districts abolished by the new School Code. Indiana County Bar Association set vacation dates July 18 to August 19.

A Blairsville fire Monday morning destroyed Thomas Kerr’s automobile garage and damaged 20 cars and three nearby buildings, with total losses around 40000 dollars. Four people were injured including Kerr, volunteer firefighters Steffy and Fluke, and John Long. The blaze started when a boy lit a cigarette during gasoline filling, igniting fumes and scattering burning gasoline throughout the garage.

Two Clymer Men Die In Separate Tragedies
Christopher Barris disappeared from home on June 24 and was found dead by a boy at Flecker's Landing near Clymer, hanging from a tree in a decomposed state. Paul Famuelcivic, a mine worker, died after being struck by a New York Central shifter while sleeping on tracks in Clymer, with alcohol intoxication suspected.

Former Indiana Man Victim Of The Heat
Joseph Clingenberger aged 68 died of heat prostration yesterday at his daughter Lena Jordan’s home in Pittsburg. Born May 8 1843 he was raised in the county and worked as a carpenter in Indiana. He lived on West Chestnut Street until recent years leaving two daughters Lena Jordan and Norris Myers, a sister and two brothers including Henry Clingenberger. He belonged to Post No 28 G A R.

Nearly 600 Lydick family members and friends gathered at Siverd's grove near Leard for the eleventh annual reunion.
