Mahal Spence 16 and Pearl Spence 18 died after a lamp oil explosion at the Spence home in Grove Chapel Rayne township. Father James A Spence Beulah 12 and two nephews Michael and Harry Moore were severely burned while fighting the blaze. Michael Moore sent to Adrian Hospital. Pearl spoke before death. Benjamin Pardee dies and Thomas Mason injured in a dynamite explosion at Hines Company mine near Dixonville. Mason taken to Adrian Hospital.
