A fire Saturday morning damaged the Johnston Mitchell dwelling on Church Street near the Methodist church. Water and flames ruined household goods belonging to Misses Margaret and Bara Williams occupying part of the building. Clair Beck’s property on the east side was unharmed. Fire started in the Williams kitchen area, likely from a defective flue, with damage to the building estimated at $200.

The fracas included a strike, property damage, and shattered windows, with several men assaulted. Woman Burned by Coal-Gas Explosion in Rossiter
