Attacked at Cimarron Crossing by Kiowa War Party
Major A P Shaw and a small U S Army detachment escorting a paymaster and a strong box fought off Satanta and over a thousand Kiowa warriors at Cimarron crossing. After a night of siege the arrival of Seventh Cavalry under Custer repelled the attack and freed the beleaguered party from a likely massacre.

Poor Richard's Almanack launches by Franklin in 1733
In December 1733 Benjamin Franklin began publishing Poor Richard's Almanack priced at fivepence. It rapidly gained fame with three editions sold in that month. Its annual average sales over 25 years reached 10,000 copies, prompting editions in October for year‑start colonies. Translated widely, it included famed proverbs and practical counsel.

Inhuman Experiment and Oddities of Life
A collage of short comic and odd vignettes follows: Professor Witherdupp orders a janitor to kill a lizard and preserve it in alcohol, a tale of a self similar man in a dream, a sailor’s wit about Great Britain, and quips from various newspapers. Included are jokes about life, death, and everyday curiosities, ending with a note about a holiday issue full of sketches and illustrations from Go. H. Hazar Bord.
