Indiana County Teachers Paid Poorly in Contrast to Westmoreland

A public spirited citizen in Indiana County urges better pay for teachers, citing Westmoreland as higher paid and quality education rising. The Progress hopes the next Legislature will enact higher salaries as teachers seek more lucrative positions. Local notes include a public play at Library Hall Quincy Adams Sawyer on Wednesday, and a range of social and church activities with numerous visits and gatherings across town.

Twilight verses and lost items from Baltimore sun

A fragmented Baltimore Sun item blends a lullaby-like verse about a baby and toes with a lost gold watch note and miscellaneous small ads. The prose captures twilight imagery, a hotel location, a reward, and several brief notices including furniture for sale and a Bobsleds advertisement, all from an urban page.

Donts for tt and postal carrier duties

Instructions warn patrons to keep boxes clear of obstructions and to maintain locks after snow storms and high winds. Emphasis on stamping mail, raising the flag, avoiding sending money or letters by post office, and patrons numbering boxes to aid delivery. Also notes four new Indiana frame houses for sale and thanks from a school principal for a Christmas gift.
