Mrs Virginia Mancantelli of Whiskey Run is held for court on a murder charge after allegedly shooting boarder Charles Conte in the back on November 8 when he refused to elope with her. The incident followed a quarrel with her husband over alleged infidelity. Conte was treated at Adrian hospital for weeks.

Sandford Burkhart was found guilty in Greensburg court last week of causing the death of Bertha Critzer in a Westmoreland county case linked to a criminal operation. Critzer, who had worked in Westmoreland, returned from a Pittsburg institution and died soon after. Coroner examination confirmed the criminal operation as the cause.
