Murdered in His Home by Foreign Miner on Cumming Farm
On a northwest farm, Steve Buko was shot through the heart by Mike Steffan after an accusation of theft. Both men were foreigners and miners. Buko's wife witnessed the killing as Coroner W D Gates held an inquest. Steffan, 26, fled the scene. Buko, 35, left a widowed wife and child. A second foreign victim was found dead with two bullet holes near Conemaugh River, with evidence of robbery.

Samuel J Hill dies in Seward at 82 after brief illness
Samuel J Hill of Seward died at his daughter's home on Thursday evening from the grip after a brief illness. He was 82 years, nine months and eight days old. Born in St Clair township, Westmoreland county, he lived there most of his life. He helped grade the Pennsylvania railroad bed at Seward and rode the first train from New Florence to Johnstown. For over forty years he worked as a track walker between Seward and Long Hollow, covering an immense distance. He belonged to the Seward M E church and the Pennsylvania Railroad Veteran Association Pittsburg division. Funeral services were held Saturday led by Rev J T Swank of Seward M E church, with interment in Wakefield cemetery in Bush Wheatfield township.

Mrs Margaret Nesbit widow of Jacob Nesbit died at her home in Conemaugh township aged 88 after a thigh fracture and grip. Born Margaret Irwin June 24 1821 near Livermore Westmoreland county she outlived her husband by about 60 years. Surviving sons are N Calvin Blairsville Jacob Livermore and Robert William at home. Funeral services were held at her home and interment at Me Nezer Presbyterian church cemetery.
