Barn Fire Destroys Green Township Farm Building
A large barn and contents owned by Granit and Bilis Smith of Green township burned Saturday evening around 6.00. Four young cattle, 21 sheep, seven hogs, several chickens, farm implements, and this year’s crops were lost. No insurance covered the building or contents. The Smith boys, sons of the late George Smith, run the farm. their mother is a patient at the State Hospital in Warren. Cause of the fire is not known.

Civil War Veteran Archie Allen Dies at 80 in Dayton
Archie Allen aged 80 died Friday at his brother Wilam Allen's home in West Mahoning township. He was unmarried and a Civil War veteran. Rev. McIntyre of Dayton conducted the Sunday service and burial followed at Glade Run Cemetery in Dayton. A. & Cunningham and their daughters Erma and Grace attended Thanksgiving with daughter Mrs. F. D. Glover of Pittsburgh. Mr and Mrs McFeaters hosted guests for a social gathering with music at their home.

Elrod Gibson, 63, died in Indiana Hospital Thursday noon from injuries after being struck by a car driven by Jay Hileman Jr. near the street car barn as he tried to close tracks. An inquest found no criminal negligence by Hileman Jr. relatives may pursue action. Gibson leaves a son and daughter plus many siblings in Cherryhill, Reynoldsville, Rochesterville, White township, Beleano, Huntingdon, and Indiana.
