Obituaries report the death of David Tomb of Indiana County after a period of illness. Born May 26, 1857, he was a lawyer, director at Savings & Trust, and a Democrat leader. Survived by wife Margaret Rankin, six sons, two brothers, and a sister. Funeral at Tomb residence, Greenwood cemetery. Also noted are the deaths of Nancy Lelless George, Rachel McCreary, and infant George Harold Nibert with brief funeral details.

Y. guests of Swan parents on East Water Street. Mrs Charles Alers of Philadelphia Street visited her father John Miller of Bollyar. Miller recently turned 94. Misses Banche and Sibyl Clark close Cherry Tree home for winter with sister Mrs Cora Clark Miller of Jeannette. Miss Myrtle McKendrick of East Water Street recovered from diphtheria and resumes Johnstown teaching. Mrs Cora Clark Miller and sisters attend Federated Clubs Congress at Irwin and Nixon Theatre to see The Garden of Allah. Richard Grant, former White Sewing Machine Co. agent, returns to Indiana and will represent the company in the area with J. C. Forsythe in Marshall building.
Conference agenda lists lectures and questions on dairy herd foundations soil improvement and farm economics. Speakers include Leon O Van Noy J T Campbell Sheldon W Funk and B Dorsett with locations Troy Hartstown Hartstown and West Lebanon as well as Boyertown and Mansfield Pa.
Deeds recorded since last report show transfers including Calvin A Ginter 90 acres in Montgomery to Bert Ginter for 1600 dollars and Charles B Coleman 116 acres in Burrell to Archibald M Coleman for 10000 dollars. Other transfers span lots and parcels across North Mahoning Blairsville Canoe Green Grant and surrounding townships with prices from 40 to 1250 dollars. A barn fire at Patton farm south of town destroyed forty dairy cows owned by W. Ross Mahan. Discovered about 8:00 pm, the blaze trapped cattle on the upper floor and all stock perished. one animal died after panicking back into the building. Loss includes grain, hay, straw, and implements. insurance valued at $1,962, barn insured for $1,600. Local residents aided in recovery and fire control. Origin uncertain but suspected incendiary. Mahan plans to replace the herd and build a modern dairy barn.
William Bullock, longtime Indiana resident, died Sunday from injuries suffered after a Monday assault by three men in Wheeling. Arrests made on murder charges. Suspected quarrel stemmed from accusations Bullock "seabbed" at a non union glass factory in Fairmont. Bullock, 38, came to Indiana with Harry Northwood and worked at the legal glass factory until Northwood moved to Wheeling. He was brother to Felix Bullock, former local resident now factory superintendent at Northwood’s Wheeling plant.
The Brockway Lyceum Bureau plans a Chautauqua in Ips next August with its own ushers programs and a 3000 seat auditorium tent. It will tour nearby towns in summer featuring Bohuwir Kry and his band ex Governor Folk Missouri J Adam Bede and Laurent the magician in a 36-event program daily.
At the annual meeting of Post 28 G A R of Indiana held Thursday evening, officers were elected including Commander Harry White and senior vice commander G A McLain. William A. Bt. Clair was named officer of the day, with T P Stephens guard, D R Pringle chaplain, Dr William Hosack surgeon, H My Lydick quartermaster, John H Hill adjutant. Delegates to the department encampment in Gettysburg named Dr William Ha J, M Marshall. alternates D M Dick, T F Stephens. An installation for 1909 will be held in January in the Court House. Also reported is the loss of a mule from Kellyburg valued at $850.
