Indiana Normal Wins Football Championship at Kiski

Indiana Normal defeated Kiski 7 to 0 to claim the western Pennsylvania football title. A second-period touchdown followed a 20 yard pass from White to Hicks, who outran defenders for the score as Rheam kicked the extra point. A special train and large Indiana delegation celebrated with a dance and a half holiday.

Farmers Institute Speakers Announced for Winter Sessions

Harrisburg announced a state program listing speakers for farmers institutes in every county this winter starting Monday. Law Offenders Sentenced For Explosive Train Charge And Theft

Judge Telford sentenced John Malory and Norrig Cochran on Monday after guilty pleas. Malory carried explosives on a West Penn passenger train and was paroled on paying costs, a 430 penalty, and no further offenses. Cochran, who stole Elder Stewart’s bicycle at Homer City, was paroled on paying costs within ten days, returning the bicycle, and gaining employment. The court noted Cochran’s excuse for theft as needing money.

Two Killed by Slate Fall at Lucerne Mine

Fatal accident reports two men killed by slate falls in mines near Lucerne and Penn Station. Cosmic Vamity, 18, and Emanuel Coy died in separate incidents. Crowded funeral services honored Cosmic at St Bernard's while Coy's death followed the Penn Gas Coal Co. incident. Local families and relatives are noted among ties to Greensburg and Marion Center.

The Indiana branch gains an additional evening train to Elelraville Intersection with a revised weekday and Sunday schedule. Connection times to Pittsburgh Philadelphia and New York improve, mail handling shifts to closed pouches, and two crews rotate daily with no change to the Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh line arrivals or departures.

Commencement Belles Musical Benefit for YMCA Building Fund

One hundred Indiana youths present the musical comedy Commencement Belles directed by Harry B. Mar eball at the Auditorium next Monday and Tuesday to raise funds for the YMCA building. Tickets start at 26 cents, with reserved seating options. box seats 50 cents. Reservations begin Friday at Hall's Bookstore. The show features Indiana Normal Glee Club, a large chorus, and a ten piece orchestra with twenty two musical numbers. The plot follows a Seminary girl chased by her father who plans a marriage to his son, with a second act in a country school and humor from visiting directors. The event aims to boost attendance and celebrate a cash prize for the best ticket sales next Tuesday evening.

Chiming Clock Adorns Front Of First National Bank

A four chime electric clock with Westminster Cathedral and Reveille bells is mounted on the First National Bank building on Philadelphia Street. Two large illuminated diary faces visible from afar mark every quarter hour. The clock, driven by a motor, keeps accurate time and is praised by the public. Also reported: Clark Davis injured in a wreck on Watt's Hill when a horse or vehicle ran away, injuring his right shoulder.

Lucerne scene of a bold murder on main street

In Lucerne the coal town north of Homer City a fatal shooting occurred on a principal street. Angelo Damico known as Jimmie Mitchell killed Mike Meno after a quarrel over a speakeasy dispute. Mitchell fled to his shop then disappeared into nearby woods and has not been captured. Meno, 36, left a wife and ten children. Mitchell, 28, previously popular, ran a bar shop and is now a suspect in the case.

Wes Shank Taken to Dixmont Asylum

Wesley Shank, a former Indiane drayman, was taken to the Dixmont asylum yesterday by County Detective Josiah Nealy for mental weakness. His young wife will guide with his aunt Mrs. Belle Conway of Railwood Avenue.

Scaffolding Collapse Injures Three at Mine Site Near Jacksonville

Accident occurred Friday afternoon at the All man Run Mine Line near Jacksonville when a scaffold failed. Three men James C. Lockett Frank M. Travis and William McDonald sustained injuries including a broken leg a kneecap facial wounds and a broken nose. Lockett transported to Punxsutawney Hospital while Travis and McDonald returned home for treatment in DuBois.
