New York Chicago Air Line Promised as Shorter Rail Route
Promoters led by Joseph Ramsey Jr announce a low grade double track from New York to Chicago via Pittsburg, creating the New York, Chicago & Pittsburg Air Line. Cost estimated at 150 million dollars with foreign capital backing. Line to run northeast through Indiana and Clearfield regions, shortening distance by 108 miles from the shortest current route.
