Mrs. Harry Miller and family visited her mother Mrs. John Craig on Sunday. Pear Leaf Blister Mite Threatens Pennsylvania Pears

State inspectors under Zoologist H A Surface warn that the Pear Leaf Blister Mite is a serious pest across Pennsylvania. It harms leaves and fruit, but is controllable with dormant lime sulfur sprays after leaves drop or before new growth. A grower note explains applying boiled lime sulfur and Bordeaux mixture to prevent rot and disease, with instructions for making Bordeaux mix and timing. Local notices include auctions by Cameron and Lutman, and Blairsville lodges plan to skip sideboards and liquor sales amid legal pressure.
