Melancholy Glen Campbell man ends life with shotgun blast

Corry Saxton about 30, long ill, became despondent after a few days illness. He drew a shotgun in his Glen Campbell home Friday morning and blew off part of his head. Wife and two children in adjoining room heard the shot. Coroner’s inquest upheld death by his own hands.

Fairgrounds Ready for County Exposition Draws

With under three weeks to the county fair, grounds and buildings are repaired and ready. An aero plane will perform Wednesday to Friday of the fair, high prospect for crowds. Thomas Bros. will fly daily, guaranteeing completion of contract. Expect strong displays of agricultural products stock and fancy work with early entries urged to avoid delays.

Chicago Aug 8 The Progressive party completed its ticket at the convention naming Theodore Roosevelt of New York for president and Harmon W Johnson of California for vice president. Both nominations were made by acclamation amid stormy scenes after ten hours in session as platform debates delayed the action.

Deaths in Clarkeburg and area leave community mourning

Thomas Hart a longtime Clarkeburg resident aged 72 died at home Thursday afternoon. Civil War veteran, born 1840 in Conemaugh township, married 1863 to Sarah B. McCartney, widow died 1886. Hart ran a general store 43 years and was active in Conemaugh United Presbyterian Church. Survived by five children and relatives in Kansas and Pennsylvania. Funeral Monday at Conemaugh church burial grounds. James Moore, formerly of Rayne township, aged 80, died Sunday at East Church Street. Civil War veteran, survived by widow and six children. Funeral Monday at Rayne church burial ground. Ellsworth Sickenberger, 19, and Ella Sickenberger, 19? died Friday night at Lovejoy. daughter of Alexander Beringer, survived by husband Elleworth Sickenberger and one child. Funeral at East Mahoning church.

Picnic Planned by First United Presbyterian at Fair Grounds

Elaborate plans for the First United Presbyterian congregation picnic at the Fair Grounds on Friday include a noon dinner a brief devotional service a literary program and afternoon sports.
