Remainder laid to rest in local cemetery.
Mr Jene Tell of Barrreil township died Monday at 2 00 am from apoplexy after a preceding attack and strokes. several children survive. burial at Wirtie ie cemetery on Tuesday. Mrs Geetae Th Brown near Strongs town died Sabbath evening after a lingering illness aged 60 from stomach cancer. burial at Stronps town cemetery beside two sons and two daughters.
Mrs Nancy Wilkey of Homer City died early Monday at 1 o clock from heart trouble. The remains were interred in Oakland cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.
A week long camp meeting is underway on Judge White's grave with about 25 tents housing attendees from Indiana towns such as Blacklick Blairsville Greensburg Uniontown Apollo and more. Services run at 6 00 and 7 00 p m with a gate fee anytime. Judge White donated the use of land and access via Plumville road for townside and grounds water. Rev Walter A LeHew presides aided by a district ministers guide.
A man attacked at Cramer's mill in Brush Valley on Monday, slashing a large artery with an axe. The assailant, Morris, reportedly struck the victim while brandishing the weapon. the wounded man was left bleeding as authorities respond.
Mr Dean Howe of Pittslurs and Miss Jennie Ledic at thin plate were married by Vusceainwnes on Monday evening. Toes rp tusned there on Tuemtos.
Dogs killed several sheep belonging to Joseph Parks of Washington township. One dog was put to death by the county after Cay J. M. Marlin of Willet declined to kill his own dog. Marlin threatens to sue the county for 375 dollars for the loss of his dog.
Judge White rode from the barn on Sabbath afternoon when his horse jumped throwing him against the barn. He suffered a deep gash that needed several stitches but his condition was not serious. He was seen greeting friends on the street Monday morning.
Marble and granite dealer Mr. kK. E. Young won a contract last week to erect a sarcophagus design monument for the late Dr. William Anderson. The monument will weigh about six and a half tons and be among the cemetery’s largest and most expensive.
Mr Ch W Wehle an optician returned Monday from Chicago after a two weeks course of lectures at an optician school. He is better prepared to examine delicate eyes and fit glasses and will be permanently located at his old stand.
The Commissioners contracted for tile boxes for their rear office. The new furniture mirrors items recently placed in the Register and Recorder’s and Prothonotary’s offices. A counter and several book racks were ordered for the Prothonotary’s office.
Mr. Benjamin Lowman and his two sons were severely shocked by a lightning strike Monday morning. The bolt hit a tree near the wagon shed where they stood, knocking all three to the ground.
Mrs George Lowman of Cherryhill township was taken to a Philadelphia hospital weeks ago and brought home Friday. Her condition is not improved and little hope is entertained for her recovery.
Mrs James R Bell of West Philadelphia street slipped and fell Friday fracturing her right arm below the elbow. Dr Purington reduced the fracture and the patient is getting along nicely.
A 16 voice McKinley-Hobart Glee Club will be organized this week with Prof. J L Apple to train the group and prepare all campaign songs before Jong masters the repertoire.
County Surveyor D L Moorhead bought a fine transit last week. The instrument, a marvelous work by Kenfiel and Esser, cost $220.
The surviving members of the 74th Regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, will assemble in Smitten's Grove near Marchand on Thursday, August 20.
The annual Indiana county fair opens in less than five weeks at the fair grounds with abundant crops and a people’s audience. The exhibition moves one week later this year to suit farmers, and the agricultural displays promise to be outstanding. A new farmers’ race for horses owned by county farmers, never driven by their owners, is planned for Wednesday September 16, with other races possible. Poultry exhibits are open to all exhibitors, and posting contracts were awarded to M F Janaison & Bro. An advertising wagon will start soon and flaming bills will announce the fair in the region.
Allentown August 7 1895 Robert R Wright resigns as chairman of the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee criticizing the Chicago Convention and its platform He argues the party abandoned its longstanding Democratic doctrines favoring hard money and opposes free silver and greenbacks while condemning attempts to control the Supreme Court and discounting the party’s unity.
Cannon services will be held at Second United Presbyterian church next Snooath. J F P Coss has served as pastor of the Church of Christ here and will devote himself to evangelistic work. Rev Allan Wilson of Johnstown preached a fine sermon in the Christian chapel last week. Rev J M Jones will conduct services at Fairview church west of town next Sabbath at 4 pm. Rev Neil Ferguson of this place will preach at United Presbyterian Greenville Sunday at 3 pm. Rev M M Sweeny will lecture at Hopewell M E church in Black Lick township Thursday evening Aug 20 with light refreshments in the church lecture room afterward.
Mr. Jim A. McNeel, new furniture dealer and undertaker, received a square glass hearse with modern equipment last week. He has partnered with A. H. Apple for 19 years and is ready to serve all county calls with the same care as town patrons, offering a full line of caskets and funeral furnishings at reasonable rates.
Rev J C Johnson of the Dunkard and J F Coss of the Disciple will debate next Monday at 10 am at Montgomery Dunkard church. Propositions examine harmony of German Baptist Brethren and Christ and His apostles. Johnson affirms the first proposition and Coss the second.
Humane Agent Thompson brings charges before Squire McMaster against Jennings also known as Bood Sheffler for ill treating his seven year old son. Sheffler has disappeared. The man allegedly dragged the boy from bed on Thursday morning and whipped him with a hitching strap attached rein snap. The child’s back was exposed and the lashes drew blood on the legs.
A barn belonging to Mikesell Nibert near Onberg in Rayne township was struck by lightning at about 9 AM Monday. Workers in a nearby threshing barn saved the crops, but about ten tons of hay in the Nibert barn were destroyed as the structure burned to a total loss.
Attendees of the Richmond picnic on Friday and Saturday are promised a good time. The organizing committee has secured several attractions to make this two day event the largest in years. One day will be spent under the trees in a large grove secured for the occasion. The speaker remarks reference Jefferson and critique current followers of his teachings.
A Homer City girl, Miss Devinney, drank arsenic on Sabbath to end her life after a romance cooled. Dr. Campbell treated her with a stomach pump. she survived and is expected to recover.
The quarterly conference of Armagh circuit meets in Heshbon church with Dr R T Miller on August 22 and 25. Preaching and conference Saturday 22 at 10 30 a m and preaching and communion Sunday 23 at 3 p m. Also mechanicsburg meeting next Saturday at 3 p m and Homer preaching Sunday 16 at 7 30 p m. New Florence circuit holds conference Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 with sessions 3 p m Saturday and 10 30 a m Sunday. This is the last round for the conference year. all members should attend.
Constable Wettling arrested Charles Gibson son of Kenwood on Thursday on a grave charge named by Cassie Williard of Rochester Mills. Gibson posted 500 bail for court appearance. He then charged James McClements and the girl with conspiracy. They were arrested Friday but released on bail.
Mr. David Elkins of West Mahoning township narrowly escaped serious injury Saturday while in a field cutting grain with a binder. The frightened horses caused him to be thrown in front of the machine and the binder passed over him before help could stop it. He escaped with a bruised shoulder.
The List Grows. Sheep damages paid during the past week total amounts to several individuals: J. M. S. Wilson of South Mahoning township received 12.50 dollars, David R. Mack of East Wheatfield township 15 dollars, R. M. Sell of Armstrong township 26 dollars, James Radcliffe of Banks township 18 dollars, James Hanna of Banks township 10 dollars, and Peter Sawyer of Montgomery township 7 dollars.
Mr. Robert Pittman of Johnstown formerly Brushvalley disappeared about a week ago. Two months earlier he married Miss Florence Truby of Mechanicsburg, who is frantic over his unexplained absence. Foul play is feared.
H. W. Moore of White township and Geo. W. Martin of Cherryhill township delighted the PRoGREss force last Tuesday with a gift of early harvest apples. The apples were described as beauties and sparked cheerful reactions among the workers.
About ten of Miss Margaret Campbell’s young friends from the Third ward called unannounced at her residence Thursday evening. The guests surprised the hostess completely with their unexpected appearance.
A. J. M. Taylor of Fifth street and his son Attorney D. B. Taylor of Tenth street Third ward swapped residences on Tuesday in a noted home exchange within the city.

A new engine, separator, and cock test are added under owner George Wagner with L W Dubs as manager on contract. Output aims at 3,000 to 4,000 pounds of butter weekly for a Philadelphia firm, with milk bought at butter fat value and daily weighing and testing. The plant operates under six rents and follows city market prices.
Mrs. Guist, wife of T Ian Guist, filed a desertion charge with Squire Fent after he left on a morning train to Johnstown. Sheriff Mack arrested Guist returning him by evening train. Rumors of relations with another woman circulated from a Dayton Dayton Armstrong account, which Guist denies. Bail was set Tuesday evening for a hearing.
