William Mabon Dies After Heart Attack at Maron Center
William Mabon aged 75 of Maron Center died suddenly of heart failure Friday noon while aiding his wife with furniture. He lived most of his life in farming, was married twice, and is survived by his second wife and children from his first marriage, plus a brother. Services were held Sunday at the Presbyterian church in Maron Center with interment in the Mahoning graveyard.

Train to Town On Monday By Buffalo Rochester & Pittsburg
The Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburg Railway will bring its first coaches into the town on Monday under its promise to run regular passenger trains. Two daily trains to Punxutawney and back will operate with connections to Buffalo Rochester and through trains. The first inbound arrives at 9:00 am, the second at 5:30 pm, and outbound at 6:00 am and 1:00 pm. Passenger station work will start when weather permits, with a platform 125 feet from Philadelphia street for long excursion trains.

At a Monday night town council meeting the trolley system ordinance was passed with amendments authorizing a spur from Seventh and Philadelphia to the grounds and another from Philadelphia to Ninth and Chestnut. John P. Elkin urged rights of way as construction could begin soon, with some lines possibly operating by fall. The board of supervisors of White township will meet in Indiana Friday to discuss the project and residents are urged to attend. Other actions included raising Secretary John S. Taylor’s salary from $200 to $300, ordering a south Water street crossing at Ninth street, and planning a town survey with street grade records for easy reference.
