Death of Peter Leasure Leaves County Mourning
Peter Leasure a longtime resident of Green township and later Indiana city died at his home on east Water street early Monday morning at nearly 80. Survived by wife Margaret A. Miller and three children J C Leasure S B Leasure and Samantha Elizabeth Oatman. Funeral services were held at his home and he was buried in Greenwood cemetery.

Taylor W. Bryan of Joplin Missouri died at home on Sabbath evening from dropsy at age 56 years 10 months and 3 days. He was born in White township and lived there until after the Civil War when he moved west. Survived by a wife one son and one daughter. He served in the 55th Pennsylvania Volunteers. He is survived by brothers John R Bryan Harry Bryan and William Bryan and sister Mrs Rebecca Rowe.

William Barker Dies at 83 in Clarksburg Civil War veteran
William Barker longtime president of Clarksburg died Wednesday from paralysis at 83. He leaves two children George Barker of near Armagh and Mollie Taylor of Allegheny. A Civil War veteran, he was a member of Findley Patch Post G A R. Services were held at Blairsville with burial there. William Johnston of Pittsburgh died at his son Lawrance’s home in West Wheatfield township aged about 60. He fell ill with general debility while visiting and was interred in Pittsburgh after a Monday funeral.

A charter is being sought for the Penn Run Coal Company formed here last week by Rembrandt and Frank Peale of New York, C. C. Springer of Boston, J. J. Mitchell of Philadelphia, Harry and J. O. Clark of Glan Campbell, RH. Silsworth, Arcadia Coal’s superintendent, and M. C. Watson of this place. The firm owns 10,000 acres along Northwest Creek and plans development once railroad facilities appear for fuel transport. A town may be established near Porterfields on the Pike east of town.

Armagh man charged after alleged assault on seven year old
Noah Haines, 32, arrested at Armagh and sent to Somerset to face four grave charges following a brutal assault on a seven year old girl four weeks earlier while employed on a farm near Hooversville, Somerset County. The victim remains in a critical condition. Haines had been working for the girl’s father and had recently found work on another farm near Armagh.
