School Street Fire Destroys Chambersville Double House

A Tuesday morning blaze at the double brick house of Michael Bennett on East School Street in Chambersville destroyed both apartments. Firemen fought through heavy heat and low water pressure, aided by a big pump, as Mrs Sutton and family barely escaped with the children. The Suttons, Mrs Henderson, and Mr and Mrs Barr suffered heavy losses, with Mrs Henderson burned lightly. Fire origin undetermined but suspected overheated furnace. Bennett, en route from Florida, may have had little or no insurance.
