Elkin Nominated for Pennsylvania Supreme Court
John P. Elkin of Elkin and Forney attorney was unanimously named for associate justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court by the Republican State Convention in Harrisburg. Gov. Pennypacker declined the nomination. Elkin accepted after rapid caucuses and endorsements from Philadelphia Allegheny Lancaster and Dauphin delegates. Elkin vowed to remain on the bench and not seek the 1906 gubernatorial race as crowds welcomed him home to Indiana County.

NEW TRACKERS AE NORMAL Spring Worm Opens with prospects of largest enrollment of students. Over 500 students are enrolled at the Normal school and this number is being swelled by new arrivals daily. By week’s end the largest attendance is expected. Late arrivals will be teachers completing their schoolwork. The faculty gained two new instructors last week Miss Katherine Meigs and Miss Gertrude B Kolin. Meigs, Smith College graduate, had been in post graduate work in New York City. Kolin, graduate of Women’s College of Baltimore, did post graduate work at Cornell University.

Birthday celebration at Milton Hoffman home

Blairsville Boy Drowned In West Penn wreck
B W Ferguson aged 17 of Blairsville drowned when a West Penn freight car left the Roaring Run track and plunged into the Kiskiminetas river. His brother Charles Ferguson and G H Greasley escaped by climbing atop the car as it sank. Ferguson’s body was recovered at 4 pm and sent to Apollo.

Fatal Dynamite Explosion At Packsaddle Powder House

Man Charged with Shooting Frank Jamison Trial Set
Levi Fisher, a colored man from Wayne Avenue, was held for court on a charge of felonious shooting in the Frank Jamison case. Charles Fisher was arraigned and released. Dr. J. Bell, formerly a local dentist, has opened an office in Indiana. A 56-year-old son of Charles Thompson died of German measles after a day’s illness. three other relatives are ill.

On Saturday Judge White granted a liquor license to Brank and O'Hara, landlords of the Hines House in town. The hotel, one of the oldest in the area, was formerly known as the Derr House and later the Lewis House, and had been without a license for 20 years.

The Tadinna Lutheran Church observes the 20th anniversary of Rev. Lewis Hay’s pastorate on May 1.
