Lightning Burns Powder Mill Near Seward After Strike
A lightning strike during a rain storm early Friday morning ignited a storage house at a powder mill near Seward. The explosion, felt miles away, destroyed three buildings while the watchman escaped unharmed. A large quantity of powder burned. the plant has seen several total explosions with at least ten human victims. The incident disrupted the area and highlighted past dangers at the site.

Killed by a live wire at work on telephone pole
Albert Shank 32, son of Jacob Shank of White Township, died Saturday afternoon at Monongahela City after contact with a five trolley wire while working as a lineman for Medieval Telephone Co. His body fell onto a network of wires, witnessed by coworkers. Survived by parents and several siblings. brother Charles Shank is a local company chief lineman. Funeral services were held yesterday with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

Rabid Shepherd Dog Causes Panic in Mahoning Townships
A dog owned by James Stiteler of Smicksburg went mad last week causing excitement in West and South Mahoning townships. It attacked several dogs and is said to have bitten Jacob Mogla of South Mahoning. Farmers armed themselves and pursued the animal but it escaped before being shot. Dogs bitten by the rabid animal are being guarded.

Man Shot in Alley After Rail Yard Confrontation
An 18 year old Wayne Avenue youth, Jamison, was seriously wounded by a gunshot to the left chest near the rail yard after a confrontation with a group of men said to be colored. Levi Visher and four others were arrested. Jamison is in precarious condition as doctors attempt to remove a lodged bullet.
