One Dead One Dying in Anarchist Bombing in Union Square
Selig Silverstein an anarchist hurled a bomb at Captain Miles O'Reilly and his men in Union Square New York March 20. The blast killed Ignata Wildebrand a tailor and badly injured Silverstein who said he acted to punish police. Police swept the square driving crowds through Broadway and nearby streets. Sociologist Robert Hunter and others described the clash as a test of free speech and assembly. Elsewhere Senator Penrose's condition improved slowly at his Philadelphia home.
