A pastor shot a girl after crying Bolshevik threats. The Rev. George Fitzpatrick, linked to the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows at Harrison, warned of danger earlier. Miss Halitaies, aided by the Rev. Micavinis, was rushed to hospital but doctors feared she could not be saved.
Judge refuses disposed of the case of Carl Wid downtime vs Lisle M Carnahan. Twelve true bills and four not true bills were returned by the Grand Jury yesterday. Names include Frank Tersock selling and possessing intoxicating liquor Mrs Pelly McAlarney Jane McTigue Bruce MecClinsey and Mike Popik among others. The case stems from the discovery of John Radi's body in Center township on April 414. Popik fled to Detroit then was returned to Indiana County Jail awaiting trial. He arrived from the Orient after conferring the Order of the Garter on the Japanese emperor. He was taken to the Vancouver Hotel for treatment and will stay longer than planned. His teammates included Lord Airlie and Col. Reggie Chaplin. local players and spectators witnessed the incident.
Massachusetts coastal search for Colonel Charles Lindbergh and his bride continues as observers spot a Mouette like motor launch with canvas covers. Provincetown reports describe a yacht named Mouette and a seaplane shadowing the area while officials note maritime law steps if vessels refuse to identify.
Condolences flowed from stage and sports circles as Harry H. Frazee 49 former Boston Red Sox owner died at his New York home after a lengthy illness. Mayor James J. Walker was by his bedside. Frazee had travelled to Europe for health reasons and collapsed in coma before his death.
Ten men and one woman escaped drowning when the U S Engineers steamer Kittanning capsized while maneuvering a barge near Dead Man's Island. Tokio dispatches report a fire destroyed the Japanese steamer Wozu Maru off Shamchatka on May 28. About 700 persons are believed drowned as the ship, en route from Vladivostok to Kamchatka, burned with the cause still undetermined.
Braddock Pa June 5 Mrs Harry Barr of Braddock was held on a murder charge by a grand jury at an inquest into the death of her husband Harry Barr 62 street car motorman on May 23. Doctors corroborated his dying statement accusing his wife. Coroner W J McGregor led the inquest in the Braddock police station. Mrs Barr did not testify and has denied the killing.
In Braintree Massachusetts two missing men are believed trapped in the Cities Service Refining Company plant ruins after a $500000 explosion and fire. Fire departments from four communities controlled the blaze but a full search of two large stills would take many hours. Dozens of night employees were injured, four seriously, as explosions and flame rocked the area for miles.
In Menlo Park New Jersey the first two cent Edison lamp anniversary stamps went on sale at 8 a m marking Edison’s incandescent lamp invention site. Hundreds gathered before seven as Postmaster James F Shepard’s bungalow post office opened with local residents watching the release.
