Cold War talks set for Eden visit to Washington

British Prime Minister Eden will meet President Eisenhower in Washington at the end of January to discuss Cold War strategy amid Russia’s belligerent stance. Eden will be accompanied by Foreign Secretary Harold Macmillan and will stay a few days as guest of the President, with officials noting the meeting as a step in planning alliance strategy.

Aviation pioneer Glenn L. Martin dies at 69

Baltimore mourns Glenn L. Martin founder of the Glen L. Martin Co who died after a cerebral hemorrhage at Glenarm Farm on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The 69 year old aviation pioneer piloted early crafts and led a company later chosen to develop launch programs. He is credited with early parachute development and notable flight milestones. Woman Shot By Husband In Seward Area

An Armstrong County woman, Mary Butterbaugh, 30, of Ford City, is in critical condition at Lee Hospital Johnstown after being accidentally shot by her husband Raymond while visiting relatives on a Seward farm Saturday. The rifle discharge on the porch struck her leg and caused severe blood loss before admission at 6 30 p m. Hospital attendants report the bullet pierced the right leg and shattered the upper left leg bone as the couple was with her brother-in-law Lawrence Butterbaugh following a hunting outing.

Five Taken From Saloon in Chicago Taxi Abduction

Five patrons were abducted early yesterday by Pat Dillon a 25 year old from Colorado Springs in a stolen taxi at a South Side saloon. He terrorized three men and two women and released the last passenger after injuring one woman. Dillon denied abducting the woman but later admitted the escapade according to police.

Woman Gives Birth To Baby In Upset Car

In Indianapolis a five car crash halted a hospital dash for a couple. Mrs Thelma Kremple gave birth to her fifth child in an overturned auto on her 26th birthday. Both mother and baby are reported satisfactory. Seven people, including the mother, were injured. Anthony Kremple said the accident was his first in years of driving. He and his wife plus the newborn were taken to St Francis Hospital.

Train Crash Fatal To Six Near Greenville DC

A Southern Railway Crescent passenger train traveling 75 mph struck a car at a grade crossing yesterday in Greenville DC, killing six people. The sole car survivor was a 10 month old baby. Among the deceased were James F. Brooks 37 and his wife Louise 26 the car driver Mrs Louise Bagwell and Holland Benny Sutton 29 Rosa Lee 23 and their daughter Wanda. The baby Benny Sutton had minor injuries.

Twenty five cars in Turnpike pileup in New Jersey

Twenty five cars piled up end to end on the New Jersey Turnpike near Swedesboro causing minor injuries to 13 persons after a car stopped in the southbound lane. The first car driver was not hit and drove on. Twenty cars were towed as traffic backed up four miles before clearance.

Hunter Nicholas Elko Found Dead After Nightlong Search

Indiana County authorities say 40 year old Nicholas Elko of Plumville died of a heart attack found in a wooded section near Bear Run after an all night search by volunteers, firemen, Boy Scouts, game protectors and state police. Elko vanished during a hunting trip with John Benkoakey on Saturday night.
