Veterans stage sit in at Tunney California office
Thirteen Vietnam veterans and supporters entered Senator John Tunney’s Southern California office vowing to stay until Ford or other candidates meet with them. Spokesman Ron Kovic said the protest aims to force Vietnam to be a major campaign issue and to secure a verbal commitment from Ford and other leaders. The group expected Tunney’s staff cooperation and sought telephoned support from Carter and McCarthy, tying the action to past demonstrations.
