Visions TV series revives original drama on Channel 2A
Visions, a 17 week public broadcasting drama series, premieres with Two Brothers written by Conrad Bromberg. Judd Hirsch and David Spielberg star as brothers in a story about safeguarding a younger man from self harm, with Dr Markle played by Stephen Elliott and a supporting cast including Sarah Cunningham and Diane Shalet. The project aims to rejuvenate American TV drama through new original works from writers, supported by Ford Foundation, NEA, and CPB grants.

Revival of Serious TV Drama Hints in Endowment Notes
Funding beyond season two remains ungranted. Stephen Altman argues in Cultural Post that if more supports existed an endangered art form list for American television drama would be needed. He recalls Studio One Pilots Playhouse and Playhouse 30 as relics of TV's golden age now rare amid Current mainstream fare. Visions could spark revival, while garage sales steal the Classified Ads spotlight.
