Truckers win suit over rails in landmark anti trust ruling
In Philadelphia federal court Judge Thomas J. Clary ruled for seven trucking firms and the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Assn in a Billion dollar anti trust case against 24 railroads. He dismissed the railroads counter suit and ordered damages to be determined with 80 percent borne by railroads and 20 percent by public relations firm Carl Byoir. The verdict bars further practices cited by the PMTA and constrains the railroads’ campaign against trucking firms.
