More Quake Misery in Sicily After Western Earthquake

Thousands of survivors from the Sicilian quake are evacuated from refugee tents to solid buildings as rain, wind, and cold worsen conditions. Reports cite 40,000 still housed in mud and filth with outbreaks of scarlet fever, pneumonia, and chicken pox prompting mass relocation to edge cities. A separate note records a large quake detected by UC seismographs, initially thought near New Zealand but later placed in Sicily, about 6.75 on the Richter scale.
