Long Beach Storm Breaks Wettest 24 Hour Record
Long Beach area endured the wettest storm on record with 6.68 inches in 24 hours to 2 p.m. Monday. The system caused at least three deaths including a driver hydroplaning on the San Diego Freeway, a Harbor City child killed after a car crash, and a surfer drowning in Hermosa Beach. Severe flooding closed roads and spawned mudslides across Central and Southern California as winds rose and small craft warnings were issued coastwide.
