Builder Uses Computer to Speed Cost Estimates
Howard R. Eichen, a builder since 1963, formed Co-Data Corp in Fullerton in 1968 to develop computer aided cost estimation for builders. The system cuts estimating from 10–12 weeks to five days and saves 300 to 9600 dollars per unit, needing no working drawings. Co-Data opened in San Jose and plans Dallas, with a service generating item by item lists to curb overbidding and overbuying.
