Mormons Reiterate Negro Priesthood Ban Policy
In San Francisco the Mormon church leadership reaffirmed a policy barring Negroes from the priesthood. The Dec 15 internal statement cites scripture linking Ham’s line to exclusion, and attributes the ban to doctrine tied to Joseph Smith and revelation. Church leaders McKay Brown and Tanner signed the note defending the policy.
