Isla Vista unrest cited by Santa Barbara Sheriff
Sheriff James Webster told a presidential commission on campus unrest that forces in Isla Vista continually incite revolution. He cited a 129 percent rise in major crimes and 200 percent in narcotics offenses, noting three major riots and costs around 600000, while defending law enforcement and calling for state attorney general scrutiny. UC Santa Barbara’s David Gardner called campus unrest a national crisis and urged universities to share responsibility and push reform.
