Pioneer Mary J. Neely Wolverton Dies at Old Age
Mary J. Neely Wolverton, born May 1, 1825 in Steuben County New York, migrated to Iowa then Polk County. She married John Wolverton in 1847 and aided her family’s pioneer settlement eight miles south of Monmouth. Her devotion to her children's education supported many students at Christian College and Monmouth Normal School.
