The Portland Portingation company operates a freight and passenger service between Portland and Salem and Albany. The Northwestern will run Wednesday and Friday at 7 o clock with return trips about six in the morning on Thursdays and Saturdays. Funeral for Eight C Bennett Held in Bridgeport
Samuel C. Bennett, longtime Independence resident, died in Salem hospital last Friday while under treatment. The funeral occurred Monday at daughter Mrs. R. R. Riggs home in Bridgeport with burial in the local cemetery. Survived by widow two sons and two daughters. Bennett was a little past 67 years old. The family lived in North Dakota before moving to the area.
