In a shift from prior practice the Oregon legislature repealed required public notice of delinquent real property taxes. Delinquent taxes after six months may trigger a certificate of delinquency with 15 percent interest, sold to bidders, and foreclosures may follow if not redeemed within three years. Personal property taxes become due after 30 days post first Mondays in April or October.
W. W. Newton has purchased the Long meat market and will take charge October 10 after a full overhaul. The shop will close October 1 through 10 for renovations and will offer a complete line of fresh and salted meats including poultry and fish. Newton, an experienced butcher, promises a modern, well stocked market inviting the public to inspect at opening. This blurb also includes an advertisement for Dr King’s New Discovery noting its claims for coughs and lung remedies with testimonials and pricing.
An advertisement touts a plaster made from flannel dampened with Chamberlain's Liniment as superior for back pains chest troubles and rheumatic aches. It promises prompt relief and satisfaction for sufferers of rheumatic pain and general aches.
At the Salem fair grounds meeting, Dr. Geo Collins of Albany was named president and D W Byen of Newberg secretary and treasurer. The group seeks a state bee inspector and will ask the legislature to create one.

F French of Falls City News escaped serious injury after a job press mishap last Saturday. While printing ribbon badges his left hand was crushed between type and moving platen. several fingers were injured but he expects to resume work soon.
A seller named L B Stapleton advertises a mixed sack of aced vetch and oats for sowing. The note asserts prices are correct and references the two-day period 17-18.
