Hunters balk at price for stolen horse and buggy

Hunters complain of a $50 demand by owners for damages to a horse and buggy missing after a duck hunting trip. The horse was later found abandoned and damaged along with the buggy. both parties threaten legal action if a settlement cannot be reached.

Portland River Boat Service Expands North and South

The Portland river line began daily service both north and south as Friden and the Grahamona reached town at about 10 15 p m. An electric wire failure caused darkness for hours Saturday night after a transformer failure cut power to North Independence until Monday. Rev M B Kendall of McMinnville preached at the Christian church and will return on the 24th and alternate Sundays until January 1.

At the adjourned common council meeting last Friday evening in the council chambers Le Day inon Fy A Patiornon god MC and Dane more were appointed election judges. Railroad officials visit city on inspection tour

A special train carrying railroad officials arrived Friday. The party of six includes L. R. Field Portland division superintendent F. L. Burkhalter district engineer C. B. O Conner scale inspector Selfer Shasta division superintendent J. W. Metcalf and H. C. Pearce general storekeeper. They toured west side lines on the inspection trip.

Farm Hand Injured at Wig Rich Ranch

Axel Lyan, a Wig rich ranch employee, suffered a hard fall while handling hay on Wednesday afternoon. He was thrown between the hayload and the barn, sustaining severe bruises but no broken bones, and a physician was called. He is expected to resume work in a few days.

Monmouth Club Files Complaint With Railway Commission

The Monmouth Commercial Club filed a complaint with the Railway Commission seeking better service.
