The Ford caravan arrived from Dallas for a day in Monmouth with 26 vehicles including Fordsons Fords and two Lincolns. Mayor R M Walker and local officials attended as awards were given for best looking old Ford and other categories.

Womans Death Follows Long Independence Residency
Mrs Armaneliio J Barnett of Independence died at Lammon residence in Salem Angrostth Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Independence with Rev H I Proppe officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows cemetery. She was born March 2 1878 in the American Bottom Marion County and lived in Independence since about age 16. Her husband William Barnett died in a mountain accident in Oct 1918. Survivors include her son Lemuel, mother Mrs Mary J Lemmon, and several siblings. Her son has gone to Junction City to live with Mrs J A Adkins.

Sheep Losses By Dogs And Humans On Ranch
Mr. A. McLaughlin reports heavy losses of sheep after roundup on his timber lot ranch. He found several carcasses slaughtered by dogs and evidence suggests humans supplied themselves with mutton. Estimated loss ranges from 12 to 16 sheep.

Indian Pays Fine For Violating Liquor Law
Lawney Tom a Grand Ronde Indian was fined 50 dollars and costs by Justice R W Baker on August 17 for infringement of the prohibition law. Tom was taken in tow at Dallas by Marshall C P Chase and, with Justice Coach away from home, was brought before Justice Baker. He pleaded guilty and was assessed 10 dollars for operating his car without a license.

J D Hibbs Dies at Newport After Illness
J D Hibbs a respected Independence merchant died suddenly at Newport while staying at his summer cottage with Mrs Hibbs. Born August 10 1855 he moved from Glenwood Iowa to Oregon and started in retail before buying the Independence hardware business. Survived by wife Emma Borders Hibbs four children and several siblings, funeral held at the family home with interment in Rose City Portland.

Adelia M. Moore died August 19 1922 at Emanuel hospital Portland after lingering illness. She was born September 27 1842 in Westbrook Maine and lived in Newark Illinois Salem Oregon Corvallis Independence Portland and Vancouver. Funeral was held August 21 1922 at the M E church Vancouver with interment in Park Hill cemetery.
