Air Mail Service Gains In Efficiency

Washington reports the air mail service carried one and a quarter million pounds of mail totaling forty nine million letters between New York and San Francisco with no fatalities or major accidents. Trips completed rose nearly ten percent to 92.5 percent, and current transit time is three days. If night guidance landmarks were built, the route could cut to half that time, potentially matching Chicago to New York mail delivery in a day and a half. Congress faced criticisms for funding shortages that hinder route extensions. Officials say the service’s performance could push expansion despite critics.

J B Horner a history professor at O A has been named director of historical research in Oregon. He has uncovered many historically valuable incidents including locating Fort Hoskins near Hoskins and not 20 miles west as government records state. He seeks help from old settlers to dig up and record items likely to be lost. Wonder what has become of the vacant lot gardeners.
