Willamette Valley News and Trade Notes Blast Harvest Prices
Independence enterprises report wheat price drops to about 60 cents a bushel before harvest. A major livestock sale at Pokiland County Club Oilsweek draws thousands to inspect top blood horses. Portland sales outperform Chicago as Oregon vessels and new river navigation projects spark optimism for reduced freight and higher river commerce. Oregon City locks and Willamette dredging plans receive emphasis for regional benefits and lower river rates. The Ladd Farm development valued at two million dollars could boost Portland orchard-like land dividends.
