Carousel at South Commons Theater Lifts St James fundraiser

South Commons Music Theater staged a ambitious production of Carousel to raise funds for St James Catholic church repairs at 29th and Wabash. Scott Crawford kept a large cast moving with lively choreography though a few lines sagged amid Hammerstein’s book and Rodgers score. Notable turns by David Miller and Kate Schuler carried many scenes, while Rita Sansone and dancers Dick Peterson and Garry Croft impressed, and Marjorie Hoeller Stephan Norris crafted atmospheric sets and a striking carousel opening.
