Hyde Park Vacancy Rate Drops Aide by Tenant Referral Office

A three month TRO report shows Hyde Park vacancy probably under one percent with southeast areas under one tenth of one percent. Northcentral Hyde Park improved after vacancies and four buildings remain hard to fill due to management cooperation issues. TRO plans three month leases to fit student turnover and to work with University departments to keep units available. Joint Volunteer Training Program In Hyde Park

A joint training program for volunteers for Hyde Park youth service agencies starts this year. The first session runs today 8 to 10 p.m. at Hyde Park Neighborhood Club 5480 Kenwood. Participants include School Social Centers Hyde Park Neighborhood Club and several local groups.

Rabbi Berman to Leave for Israel After 35 Years

Rabbi Berman will depart Chicago for Israel to join the Jewish Agency in Jerusalem and conduct research and teaching at Hebrew University Medical School in Biochemistry. He has led Isaiah Israel Congregation since 1936, earned a Bronze Star in WWII, and held multiple regional Jewish leadership roles. Rabbi Hayim Goren Perelmuter will succeed him on July 1. A testimonial dinner is planned for July 17 at Morrison Hotel Terrace Casino.

Mr. Hulot at Hyde Park Benefit Show Thursday

Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference hosts a screening of Mr. Hulot's Holiday at Harper Theater with three showings 4 7 15 p.m. Tickets near $1 000 in sales across 200 donors. Local volunteers and merchants donated prizes and refreshments to support the Cannes prize winning film event.

Zoning Board OKs Neighborhood Parking on Hyde Park Lot

The Zoning Board approved a variance for a private parking lot at 5418 5428 Hyde Park after residents backed the project as needed for public convenience. Opponents warned of disturbance to nearby tenants. the lot will be for neighborhood residents only with no commercial vehicles and must include landscaping and drainage improvements. Cars will enter and exit via Hyde Park Boulevard.
