South West Hyde Park Redevelopment Corp Seeks Dismissal of Complaint

The South West Hyde Park Neighborhood Redevelopment Corporation asks Circuit Court to dismiss a complaint filed by 20 property owners opposing its plan. The firm argues the complainants are not owners of property to be acquired and thus cannot object to the commission's plan approval, also citing unpaid transcript fees and other objections. The residents counter that objections by owners of affected property may suspend corporate operations, continuing to press for a hearing.

Two Die In Blaze Probes Cause Of Woodlawn Fire

A four story Woodlawn apartment blaze at 6048 Blackstone killed a two year old boy and an 80 year old man, injured three others, and displaced about 350. Larry King and John Fredericks died. Robbie Manse, Ronnie Manse, and Jean Smith were treated for injuries. Fire officials and a local voters group launched investigations into causes and code compliance while donations and inspections were proposed to prevent future tragedies.

Appoint Kirk Planner For City's 2nd Renewal Project

Hyde Parker Frank Kirk is named Community Planner for Chicago Community Conservation Board's Near West Side Urban Renewal project.
