Future of Illinois Central Hospital in bidding war
The August 1 1973 installment details bids for Illinois Central Hospital ICH with HPHMC offering about 1 million dollars for remodeling. Campagna and Jackson Park Hospital Foundation groups push varied nonprofit or for profit structures and potential staff changes. Doctors largely favor nonprofit status while Campagna contends he can recruit staff and may convert later. A petition circulated among employees urged sale to Campagna, triggering mixed reactions among supporters and critics.
