Future of Illinois Central Hospital contested by bidders
Three groups bid to buy Illinois Central Hospital at 5800 Stony Island as part of a series examining its future. Bidders include Hyde Park Hospital and Medical Center, Jackson Park Hospital Foundation, and a Campagna group led by Dr. P L Campagna. The HPHMC bid is 1.5 million dollars with plans to keep ICH as a nonprofit facility.

Public meeting sought on Hyde Park Osteopathic hospital plans
The Chicago Plan Commission approved an ordinance for the Osteopathic hospital pending a Hyde Park Community meeting called by Commission head Julian Levi. If CCC fails to organize, Levi asks Lou Hill of the DUR to plan it before August 23. ROADS, parking, flooding and construction concerns prompted attendees to present five grievances at City Hall. Dr. Thaddeus Kwalick defended parking charges and land use, noting sewer work and a fence around the site.

City fights IC cutbacks over commuter service
City officials petitioned the Illinois Commerce Commission to declare the Illinois Central Gulf Rail service reductions illegal and restore all reduced commuter service. Officials argued the cuts violated a 1968 ICC order requiring advance notice to the city clerk and public. A city collector called the cuts a social problem.
